Technical Diving Instruction:

Technical diving is one of the more challenging, but rewarding forms of diving. Through it you transform experienced divers into technical divers. You help them improve their dive skills and knowledge to levels they never realized were possible. Sidemount Instructor- Teach Divers to Dive Differently:

This will train you to teach the Sidemount Course. It was developed to allow recreational instructors to teach divers the sidemount configuration. However, many instructors who intend to teach Tec classes find value in developing a solid foundation in sidemount diving before they add the complexity of commonly used Tec equipment.

Course Structure:
  • Orientation to the Sidemount Diver class, including standards and a knowledge review.
  • Conduct the confined water skill dive.
  • Conduct the open water skill review dive.

Tec Instructor- Learn to Teach the Basics of Tec Diving:

This course will train you to be a Tec Instructor. Upon successful completion, will be able to independently conduct the Tec 40 Diver course. While teaching this course, you will establish the foundation of skills and knowledge the students will use as they progress through their Tec diving careers. Correct fundamental skills are critical teaching this course, so this course will begin with a review of your Tec knowledge and skills.

Course Structure:
  • Review of the Tec 40 knowledge reviews and exams.
  • Review of select practical applications from Tec 40 and 45.
  • Conduct select dives from Tec 40 and Tec 45 as skill reviews.
  • Conduct instructor demonstrations of selected Tec skills.
  • Demonstrate subject knowledge by teaching a Tec topic.
  • Demonstrate teaching selected Tec 40 practical applications.
  • Teach selected skills in confined water.
  • Teach selected skills in open water.
  • Take Tec Instructor Exam.

    • Enriched Air Diver Instructor certified

      • Minimum 20 EANx dives
      • Minimum 25 dives to at least 60'
      • Minimum 15 dives to at least 100'
  • Additional Postrequisites to Become Certified:
    • Master Scuba Diver Trainer certified
    • Tec 45 Diver certified
    • Minimum 20 decompression dives using a decompression gas
    • Pass all Tec Instructor Exams

Tec Sidemount Instructor- Learn to Teach Sidemount for Tec Diving:

This is a more intermediate sidemeount instructor course. During this course, you will learn how to teach students how to apply the sidemount equipment configuration to Tec diving. This is an intensive course designed to test and improve your own sidemount skills while training you to teach the configuration. Sidemount skills covered in this course will be used by divers from Tec 40 up through Trimix.

Course Structure:
  • Demonstrate subject knowledge by teaching different Tec Sidemount topics.
  • Demonstrate teaching selected Tec Sidemount practical applications.
  • Pass a water skills review in confined water.
  • Teach selected skills in confined water.
  • Teach selected skills on several open water dives.

  • Prerequisite to Start the Course:
    • Open Water Scuba Instructor certified
    • Enriched Air Diver Instructor certified
    • Deep Diver Instructor certified
    • Tec 45 Diver certified

      • Minimum 25 dives to at least 60'
      • Minimum 15 dives to at least 100'
  • Additional Postrequisites to Become Certified:
    • Master Scuba Diver Trainer certified
    • Tec Instructor certified
    • Tec Sidemount Diver certified
    • Minimum 20 technical dives in sidemount configuration AND
    • Minimum 10 technical dives in sidemount configuration using at least one decompression/stage gas

Tec Deep Instructor- Learn to Teach Advanced Tec Diving:

This is an advanced technical diving instructor course. Upon successful completion, you will be able to teach Tec 40, 45, and 50. As a Tec Deep Instructor you will guide your students down the path to become full technical divers. You will teach them emergency procedures, accelerated decompression, advanced dive planning, how to use up to 100% oxygen and much more. This is a very rigorous instructor course for those experienced Tec divers who are ready to take the next step.

  • Review of the Tec 40, 45, and 50 knowledge reviews and exams.
  • Review of select practical applications from Tec 40, 45, and 50.
  • Conduct select dives from Tec 40, 45, and 50 as skill reviews.
  • Conduct instructor demonstrations of selected Tec skills.
  • Demonstrate subject knowledge by teaching several Tec topics.
  • Demonstrate teaching selected Tec 40, 45, and 50 practical applications.
  • Teach selected skills in confined water.
  • Teach selected skills in open water.
  • Take Tec Deep Instructor Exams.

    • Open Water Scuba Instructor certified
    • Enriched Air Diver Instructor certified
    • Deep Diver Instructor certified
    • Tec 50 Diver certified
    • Minimum 100 dives
      • Minimum 20 EANx dives
      • Minimum 25 dives to at least 60'
      • Minimum 15 dives to at least 100'
  • Additional Postrequisites to Become Certified:
    • Master Scuba Diver Trainer certified
    • Tec 50 Diver certified
    • Assist with one Tec 45 or Tec 50 class
    • Minimum 270 dives
    • Minimum 25 decompression dives using a decompression gas to at least 130'
    • Certify any combination of at least 10 Deep Diver, EANX Diver, or Tec Diver students
    • Pass all Tec Deep Instructor Exams

Tec Trimix Instructor- Learn to Teach Trimix:

This is a very advanced Tec course. In this course will will not only learn to teach students about Trimix, but will learn how to safely conduct deep dives with them. This is a very intensive course. Only Trimix divers with supurb skills should consider it. Your mastery of dive skills will be tested as will your knowledge.

Course Structure:
  • Review of the Trimix knowledge reviews and exam.
  • Review of select practical applications from the Trimix class.
  • Conduct select dives from the Trimix class as skill reviews.
  • Conduct instructor level demonstrations of selected Trimix Diver class skills.
  • Demonstrate subject knowledge by teaching several Trimix topics.
  • Demonstrate teaching selected Trimix practical applications.
  • Teach selected skills in confined water.
  • Teach selected skills in open water.
  • Take Trimix Instructor Exams.

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Prerequisite to Start the Course:
    • Master Scuba Diver Trainer certified
    • Tec Deep Instructor certified
    • Tec Trimix Diver certified
    • Minimum 200 dives
    • Minimum 10 trimix decompression dives to at least 130'
  • Additional Postrequisites to Become Certified:
    • Assist with one Trimix class OR audit two Tec Trimix training dives
    • Minimum 350 dives
      • Minimum 50 decompression dives using a decompression gas to at least 130' after Tec Diver certified
      • Minimum 30 trimix decompression dives to at least 130'
      • Minimum 10 trimix decompression dives to at least 165' using less than 21% oxygen
    • Pass all Tec Trimix Instructor Exams
