Diving Instructor Courses:

Here is a breakdown of the different dive instructor courses we offer. We have a PADI Course Director on site, so scheduling these advanced courses can be fast and convient.

If you are a divemaster and are ready to accept the responsibilities of instructing dive students, then now is a great time to start. If you are not yet a divemaster, no problem, click the link in the left column to learn how to become one. The instructor courses fall into two types. The first is course based. You take a course in which you learn and demonstrate knowledge through bookwork, tests, demonstration sessions, etc. The second is prerequisite based. You meet certain prerequisites, such as numbers of students certifed, certifications to teach certain courses, and time you have held a certification. If you are an instructor with another dive agency, cross-over courses are available.

Assistant Instructor-Learning the Basics of Teaching:

You start learning the PADI System of diver education during this course. Upon completion of this course you will be able to act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. You build upon your abilities to organize and supervise scuba diving activities, while concentrating on developing your teaching skills.

Open Water Scuba Instructor-Becoming a Scuba Instructor:

The OWSI program introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator. During the course you’ll learn how to apply the PADI System of Education. Upon completion of the course and passing your Instructor Examination (IE), you will be able to train Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Divers, and Divemasters.

You will build on your AI training through:

  • Confined water teaching presentations
  • Workshops
  • Open water teaching presentations
  • Rescue assessment

  • Total course hours: 90 hours (50 if already an AI)

Specialty instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of each specialty course. You can choose from any of the standard specialty courses that PADI offers along with any distinctive specialty courses we offer. Master Scuba Diver Trainer-Demonstrating the Next Level of Instruction:

This certification recognizes your dedication as a improving instructor. Once you attain this level, you are able to train an individual from being a non-diver up through Master Scuba Diver. Once you have met the prerequisites, you will be eligible to submit your certification packet to receive this instructor certification.

  • Prerequisite: Open Water Scuba Instructor and five Speciality Instructor ratings

Instructor Development Course Staff Instructor-Learning how to Train an Instructor:

As a seasoned PADI Instructor, you have wisdom and experience to share with up-and-coming PADI leaders and you know that continuing your education never ends. As an Instructor Development Course (IDC) Staff Instructor, you help bring up the next generation of PADI Instructors while gaining in-depth instructor-trainer knowledge. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to train AIs and assist in the training of Open Water Sucba Instructors.

Through this course you will retake many aspects of the OWSI Course, but with a focus on teaching them:

Master Instructors embody the essence of a true dive professional having demonstrated a thorough understanding of the PADI System of diver education, and put it into practice by training 150 or more PADI Divers.
